TRIPLETT CHARGES HIS WAY TO VICTORY LANE AT OCS
Durham’s David Triplett took his third win of the season at OCS on
Saturday night in the 150-lap Sprint 290 event. Triplett started on the
pole but lost the lead on lap 27 when Barry Beggarly made his move to the
front. Beggarly was able to hold onto the lead until lap 56 when Triplett
again made his way to the front of the field. Triplett continued his
charge to the checkered flag while Beggarly fought a loose condition and
ended up with a fourth place finish. Frank Deiny, Jr. of Mechanicsville,
Va. had a strong run but could not make up the difference between he and
Triplett and finished in second place. Wayne Patterson of Amelia, Va. had
another strong showing taking home a third place finish with Richard
Landreth rounding out the top five.
In the Limited Sportsman event, Daryl Carver took home his first win of
the season in the first of the 40-lap twin events. Craig Moore was right
on the bumper of Carver, trying to make his move to the front, but Carver
was not to be bested. Brent Briggs had a third place finish followed by
Bill Moshenek in fourth and Richard Hylton in fifth. Points leader Peyton
Sellers suffered a tire problem in the first race and crashed his car. In
the second 40-lap event, another first time winner, Jonathan Cash went to
victory lane for the first time this season and took over the points lead
in the process. Carver was leading the second race but was involved in the
late-race crash with Peyton Sellers. Sellers was eventually parked for
rough driving. Brent Briggs took another third followed by Craig Moore in
fourth and Bill Moshenek in fifth.
The Coca-Cola Grand Stocks saw Brent Evans take another win followed by
Brian Cole in
second. James Turner took home a third place run, followed by Ed Evans and
Warren Taylor. Timmy Ferrell crashed hard in qualifying, destroying his
car.
In the Budweiser Modified 4’s,
Timberlake’s Tracey Chambers took her first-ever win with a commanding
lead. Jeremy Owens passed Tim Bailey on the last lap to take second with
Bailey finishing in third.
In the Augie’s Art Works/Gearheads Pure Stock 4 Division, sponsor Augie
Saccoccio drew a front-row starting spot and led the entire 15-lap
caution-packed event. Durham’s Jerry Elliott was able to survive with a
second place finish followed by Tony Lassiter, Joel Likness and Craig
Daniel.
